We just received notification that we leave for China on August 11 and return August 27. August 16 is the BIG day in Changsha (capital of Hunan province) when we finally meet our daughter and complete the circle of love.
I've been in shock for the last few weeks--I got so used to waiting for this moment. I think a few good doses of retail therapy will bring me out of this shock. We have started the count-down.
Our Journey to Charlotte--In the end, she will not know or care how long we waited...only that we came.
"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break." -- An ancient Chinese belief
"While I slept, my heart kept vigil."
"Today I kissed an angel, I knew it from the start; The first time our eyes met, I gave away my heart.
Today I kissed an angel, This angel child of mine; Though not of my creation, My child by God's design.
Today I kissed an angel, My heart is dancing wild; A family by a miracle, Blessed by this angel child."

Introducing Charlotte
We are absolutely over-the-moon and thrilled to introduce our daughter Charlotte Lily Lu.
Today, we received her profile and pictures--so now we have photos of the angel who has stolen a large part of our hearts. We are so crazy in love with our little family.
Luo Lu Lu was abandoned at the entrance of Xiangyin County Welfare Institute on April 13, 2009. At that time, she had a chubby face, rosy skin, and black hair. She was wearing a red cotton suit and was wrapped in a red cotton blanket with a floral pattern.
She is healthy! The medical examination report is much more extensive than we had expected and shows that she is healthy and on target with all of the developmental milestones. We are so thankful.
We are told that she likes to interact with people. When an adult comes next to her and teases her, she becomes very happy. She becomes even happier when she receives a hug. She likes toys that are colourful and produce sound. Sometimes she becomes "naughty" and reaches her hands out to grab blankets, toys, or clothes of other children in her proximity. She likes to run around in her walker.
As of June 9, Charlotte weighs 9.5 kg, is 75 cm tall, and has 2 teeth on the top and 2 teeth on the bottom.
So, now we must wait for our travel arrangements. It can't come soon enough.

The call we've been waiting for
Today, we finally received the long-awaited phone call from our adoption agency--it's been 4 years, 1 month, and 13 days from the day that our paperwork was logged in in China. We've been matched with Luo Lu Lu, a precious baby girl who is about 14 months old. She was born April 13, 2009, and currently resides at SWI for Children of Xiangyin County, Hunan Province. All children from this orphanage have the same last name "Luo." For a few years now, we have referred to this little one as "Charlotte," so now we must decide what her middle name will be. We are so crazy over-the-moon excited to hear more about this precious little angel who is about to change our lives forever. The paperwork is currently being translated from Marndarin to English. So, now we wait...
