When Charlotte got up this morning, her little hands were as cold as ice, so we tucked her into the “big bed” with us while she had her warm morning bottle.
Today is a big day for Charlotte—-her first Pumpkinfest. Mommy was so excited to dress Charlotte up in one of the two pumpkin outfits she has: a pair of black OshKosh leggings and an orange onesie that says “Too cute to spoke.”
Unfortunately, it was too cold outside to wear the outfit alone, so Mommy had to put on a fluffy outfit that dressed her up like Minnie Mouse, with ears and all on the hood, which Charlotte didn’t mind—-one of the ears always drooped—too cute.
This year it was Mommy’s turn to be running behind while everyone waited for her. For years, Mommy and Daddy would always wait, sometimes impatiently, while Auntie Dale got her three children ready to go out. Now the wheels have turned and Auntie Dale and her family were waiting for Mommy.
Charlotte is quite a people-watcher, so Pumpkinfest was a great venue for her. We visited most of the attractions—-Charlotte didn’t fuss once. She’s quite a multi-tasker—-she figured out how to drink her bottle and still hold her cousins’ hands, which she likes to do a lot, while being pushed in the stroller. We took Charlotte to the official weigh-off tent and were there when a fellow from Pickering had his pumpkin weighed. He wasn’t the leader, but he did make the list to win $1000. Charlotte had her photo taken with the top 3 contenders for heaviest pumpkin, but we noticed that the 2nd place one was being moved, so was likely bumped by the most recent weigh-in. The pumpkins will continue to be weighed until tomorrow afternoon when the winners are announced.

Daddy introduced Charlotte to hamburgers at the M & M charity BBQ. While we were watching Kaitlyn, Gregory, and Kristen play games in the Kiddie’s Korner, Charlotte nodded off for a short nap, just long enough to re-energize herself for more attractions.
We decided to head home later in the afternoon, as it started to get quite cool and the weather man was calling for rain. We went home and warmed up with hot chocolate. When Charlotte went down for her real nap, the rest of the family enjoyed a little movie party with popcorn.
We were hoping to have an outdoor fire this weekend, but it was just too cold. Instead, Charlotte provided the entertainment. Charlotte is such a bright cutie-patootie—-she had us in stitches. After dinner, while playing in her room with her cousins, Charlotte found a recorder. Without instruction, she just picked it up and instinctively knew to put it to her mouth and blow. She tried to cover a couple of the holes, but it didn’t change the note she was making. Kaitlyn and Kristen joined in and played a song, with Charlotte blowing the same note on a regular beat. It was a priceless moment. Mommy is quite excited to introduce Charlotte to the many instruments Mommy owns.

Once Charlotte went to bed, the rest of the family watched a movie and discussed the events of the day.
Our Journey to Charlotte--In the end, she will not know or care how long we waited...only that we came.
"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break." -- An ancient Chinese belief
"While I slept, my heart kept vigil."
"Today I kissed an angel, I knew it from the start; The first time our eyes met, I gave away my heart.
Today I kissed an angel, This angel child of mine; Though not of my creation, My child by God's design.
Today I kissed an angel, My heart is dancing wild; A family by a miracle, Blessed by this angel child."
