"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break." -- An ancient Chinese belief

"While I slept, my heart kept vigil."

"Today I kissed an angel, I knew it from the start; The first time our eyes met, I gave away my heart.

Today I kissed an angel, This angel child of mine; Though not of my creation, My child by God's design.

Today I kissed an angel, My heart is dancing wild; A family by a miracle, Blessed by this angel child."

Charlotte's first music and movement class

Mommy was up early this morning organizing and getting a start on packing for a week at the cottage. Charlotte was awake earlier than mommy expected—-she played in her crib from about 7:15 am until she wanted up at 7:45 am, likely because she heard mommy moving around past her bedroom door.

This morning, we attended our first “Music and Movement” class—-Charlotte was a little stand-offish at first, as she had fallen asleep on the way to the class (this is her usual nap time), so she wasn’t quite alert when we entered the facility. The class was, as the instructor had forewarned me it would be, organized chaos. There were a lot of mommies there with 2 children—-an infant and a toddler. The noise just resonated throughout the big room. I don’t think Charlotte has ever experienced such noise before, so I’m not surprised with her reaction. Mommy was quite proud of Charlotte once she did start to participate. It didn’t matter what Charlotte was doing, when the music started, she started to move to the beat and rhythm of the music. She even followed instructions—-likely repeating the actions of the instructor. She was really fidgety during story time, likely because she was too far away from the book and she doesn’t understand the language well enough to get anything out of the story. Actually, the other children were so loud it was hard for mommy to hear the story, so I’m not surprised that Charlotte lost interest.

At lunch, daddy asked Charlotte where her nose is. Without hesitation, she brought her finger to her nose—-this is a first. Daddy has been working really hard with Charlotte on learning the parts of the body. Charlotte went down for a nap after lunch, having missed her usual morning nap, while mommy ran some errands.

Daddy played with Charlotte while mommy packed—-it took a lot longer than mommy expected. Finally, we were on the road to the cottage by just after 7 pm, a little later than mommy wanted and several hours later than daddy had hoped. Charlotte watched part of a Barney movie before she started to fuss at her usual bedtime. We debated trying to keep her awake until we got to the cottage to avoid a catnap giving her the necessary energy to then play all night once we got to the cottage. However, mommy knows that Charlotte likes her sleep so I didn’t think it would be a problem letting her go to sleep.

We were stopped by a Ride program just outside of Mildmay—-Charlotte was sound asleep and mommy was afraid that the officer would wake her up with his questions. He just wanted to know if daddy had been drinking this evening—-daddy has never had a drop of alcohol in his whole life.

When we arrived at the cottage, Charlotte woke up before mommy was able to get her out of her car seat. As mommy expected, Charlotte went down with a bottle and her fish aquarium music after wandering around the cottage for a few minutes to reacquaint herself with the place. Let’s just hope she stays asleep all night.
