"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break." -- An ancient Chinese belief

"While I slept, my heart kept vigil."

"Today I kissed an angel, I knew it from the start; The first time our eyes met, I gave away my heart.

Today I kissed an angel, This angel child of mine; Though not of my creation, My child by God's design.

Today I kissed an angel, My heart is dancing wild; A family by a miracle, Blessed by this angel child."

Excitement rises as we prepare for Pumpkinfest at cottage

Today we tried to attend a Music and Movement class offered by the Ontario Early Years Centre; however, Mommy didn’t get the complete name of the facility, so after going to 3 different places and driving for 40 minutes, we decided to head home.

Mommy and Daddy scurried around the house packing for the cottage while Charlotte napped. On this trip to the cottage, Charlotte was much better in her car seat. To date, Charlotte hasn’t really been all that interested in watching programs and DVDs, but she really enjoys the Wiggles… so does Mommy—-they are so handsome. Their music is so lively and the colours captivate her attention. We didn’t quite get through a whole DVD before Charlotte started to fuss and then eventually fell asleep for a short nap—-Mommy joined her.

I think Charlotte was relieved once we pulled into the driveway of the cottage because it meant she could get out of her car seat, which she still doesn’t like that much, but it’s getting better. We discovered that she doesn’t fuss as quickly when we remove her shoes and socks for the journey.

Talking about shoes… Charlotte has outgrown the shoes that the orphanage provided when we got her in August. In the house, she is barefoot most of the time, as she’s always taking off her socks and slippers. We insist on shoes and socks when we go out so that Charlotte can get on the ground and move around on her own. When we took Charlotte for studio photos on Wednesday, Mommy noticed that Charlotte's one foot was pushing down the back of the shoe and one of her big toes kept sticking out the top. Mommy set out a pair of Nike running shoes that she bought for Charlotte in China, but by the time she went to put them on to leave, she couldn’t find them. Mommy hopes to find them in one of the many bags that we brought to the cottage but didn’t. So we’re off to the shoe store for Charlotte's first pair of proper shoes when we return from the cottage—-this will be an adventure. We’re hoping to go to a shoe specialist (Foster Shoes in Scarborough) that my mom took all of us to as children and my sister Dale did the same with her children. The people at the store are excellent with children—-Charlotte will surely put them to the test, as she doesn’t mind putting shoes on, but doesn’t like to keep them on. Perhaps it was because they didn’t fit correctly—-Mommy can only hope.

Once we arrived at the cottage, Charlotte had some dinner and then it was off to bed. Mommy and Daddy continued to unpack and organize things to get ready for Pumpkinfest at the cottage. We’re looking forward to spending the weekend with Mommy’s sister Dale and her family. Charlotte just loves playing with her cousins: Kaitlyn, Gregory, and Kristen.
